U. Aytun Ozturk
Professor of Management Science
Dr. U. Aytun Ozturk is a Professor of Management Science at Soka University in Japan. He earned his BS from the University of California, Berkeley, and his MS and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. Since 2003, Dr. Ozturk has held academic positions in the US, China, and Japan, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including Business Analytics, Data Science, Management Sciences, Quantitative Methods, and Business and Operations Management. With over two decades of pedagogical experience, he has been involved in team teaching, executive education, distance education courses, and curriculum design for undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA programs. His current teaching focus is at the intersection of Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, with a particular emphasis on the practical applications of Python, including Machine Learning.
Prof. Ozturk has applied his expertise in Operations Research to contexts ranging from manufacturing to tourism. His research contributions are recognized in prominent journals, including Omega, the International Journal of Management Science, and IEEE Transactions on Power Systems. His research work has been supported by multiple grants, including the KAKENHI - Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C) from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Ozturk has received multiple awards, most recently the Best Online Presentation Award at the 2022 TTRA Asia Pacific Conference. He is the Vice President of the International Centre for Innovation and Industrial Logistics. Prof. Ozturk also has leadership experience, having served previously as MBA chair, assistant dean, and the dean of the College of Business Administration at Hawai'i Pacific University in the U.S. He is a U.S. citizen and a permanent resident of Japan.
